Are YOU Feeling Stuck?

Are YOU feeling stuck in shame, fear, pain, anger, blame and guilt?

 

With all the weight you are presently burdened with, it is likely you won’t believe me when I assure you that a breakthrough is about to happen in your life. Yes, you heard it right – things are about to turn around, only if you will them to.

 

You may not be able to see it now but rock bottom is the perfect place to begin building yourself up. It offers a strong foundation ensuring that life will not topple you down again.

 

From feeling hopeless to enjoying success

Jo was an aspiring writer. She had a great idea for her first book and was determined to begin writing it when her mother died. Devastated, she gave up on her dream, packed her bags and ventured abroad to build a new life.

 

Unfortunately, she wasn’t so lucky with her new beginning. She fell in love only to end up with a failed marriage and a daughter she had to raise alone. She had no job, no finished product and two mouths to feed. She was stuck.

 

Jo found herself in a position she feared the most. Yet, instead of allowing herself to remain at rock bottom, she picked up herself, began writing and handed over the manuscript of her first three chapters to a publisher.

 

She got a no, but she didn’t stop. She sent her manuscript to other publishers and they were all returned back. After trying her luck with 12 publishers, Jo was ready to give up.

 

That is until she received an invitation from an editor who took interest in her work. Apparently, the editor’s daughter loved the manuscript that she begged to read the whole book. The editor agreed to work with Jo but warned her that she should secure a day job as writing children’s books might not be so lucrative.

 

That manuscript that Jo almost gave up on? It contained the first three chapters of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” which went on to sell millions of copies across the world.

“I was set free because my greatest fear had been realized, and I still had a daughter who I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became a solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life,” the best-selling British author once said.

 

What to do when you are feeling stuck

Can you still remember the time when you were learning how to ride a bike? To get it right, you have to stumble and fall for what seemed like a hundred times.

 

The same is true with life. In order to succeed, you must learn how to ride again even after feeling stuck in shame, fear, pain, anger, blame and guilt.

 

Here are some reminders that can keep you motivated if ever you hit rock bottom:

 

  1. You will be okay.

Emotional healing doesn’t happen in a day so take all the time you need. Today may be painful but that doesn’t mean tomorrow has no potential to be great. You just have to get there. In the meantime, smile and choose to be happy. Your life may not be easy or perfect but if you look close enough, you will realize that you have a lot of things to be grateful for.

 

  1. You cannot succeed without failure.

The road to success is not an easy one. It is strewn with challenges and oftentimes, the only way to the top is through failure. Appreciate the good side of mistakes. See them as lessons that will mold you to become the person you were meant to become.

 

  1. Positive thinking yields positive results.

Your life is a reflection of your thoughts. If you want to change your life, then do something about it by transforming the way you think. Being hurt is something you can’t stop from happening but being miserable is a choice. Some events in your life will inevitably make you sad but wallowing in sorrow is a choice.

 

Train your mind to believe that it is capable of making things happen. Negative thoughts create negative results, the same way positive thinking yields positive results.

 

  1. Success is always closer than it seems.

On many occasions, you will be tempted to give up. Do not allow yourself to do so. Hang on for another day because who knows? Tomorrow may be the day you have always been waiting for.

 

  1. You have the capacity to create your own happiness.

When you are stuck, you have two choices: hold on to the past or move on and create your own happiness. Don’t wait on someone or something to come along and give you the happiness you deserve. Remember, true happiness comes from within.
